Dr. Bernhard received his D.O. degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1978. Following a rotating internship and two years as a general practitioner, he completed a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of California at Irvine Medical Center. Dr. Bernhard is board-certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has served on the Industrial Medical Council of the State of California, helping develop treatment guidelines for the evaluation of injured workers, and he is a past president of the California Society of Industrial Medicine and Surgery.
